Our Management Team

Octaware has a powerful and experienced professional management team having expertise and knowledge of many years to its credit. The people forming the management team are proactive thinkers and strategic planners who approach new challenges with overall business objectives in mind.

As Jack Welch has said, “Good business leaders create a vision, articulate the vision, passionately own the vision, and relentlessly drive it to completion.” This is what summarizes the Octaware Management Team.

It is said that, whenever you see a successful business, someone once made a courageous decision and it was the courageous decision of Aslam Khan supported in his endeavor by a few enterprising young entrepreneurs who have brought Octaware to where it is today and growing further ahead.

Aslam is a man with a mission and a vision. It was this vision that germinated in Octaware Technologies. And the vision was not just to establish a profit making business but to serve, add value and create growth for the society as well. Aslam Khan Chief Executive Officer

Aslam Khan is the Chairman, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Octaware. He is an experienced technologist, venturesome entrepreneur and result-oriented business leader with a proven track record of leading strategy development and execution to deliver rapid growth and scalable sustained profitability. As CEO of Octaware, he is responsible for setting corporate strategy, driving revenue, and helping to maintain the company's key relationships with customers, vendors and shareholders.

Aslam is driven by his passion for entrepreneurship and his belief in economic and social development through entrepreneurship. Aslam has carried this belief into his vision for Octaware – "To serve, add value and create growth for individuals, businesses and social entities"

Before starting Octaware in 2005, he was the Director of AskMe Corporation – Seattle, where he established the AskMe’s wholly owned subsidiary in India, which was later acquired by RealCom Software Inc, Japan. Prior to joining AskMe, He worked at Microsoft Corporation, Redmond, USA as a lead developer on the Windows2000 family of products. Earlier on he worked at Citibank N.A, Japan, developing software for financial trading platform.

He is a self-taught serial entrepreneur and socially responsible investor establishing numerous healthcare businesses including multi-specialty hospital and rehabilitation center in India. His philanthropic contributions are channeled through RIDA Foundation, a Charitable Trust he has created along with a group of academic, medical and corporate professionals to improve the quality of life of the needy through meaningful education and medical assistance.

Aslam has a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of Mumbai, he has completed the Advanced Management Program at the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta and has secured executive education at Harvard Business School, MIT's Sloan School of Management and Said Business School of Oxford University.

He sits on the advisory boards of several organizations that operate in the space of information technology and healthcare. He also serves as member of the Steering Committee of NASSCOM Foundation's Business Responsibility Forum.

Sajid Hameed Chief Operating Officer

Sajid Hameed is the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Octaware. He distinguishes himself in building and sustaining strong customer loyalties and has helped expand Octaware presence in various geographies of Qatar, Singapore, Saudi Arabia and UAE. He has an excellent track record of aggressively building, developing and executing strategic vision for business growth. His core strength lies in creating and managing globally distributed engineering & marketing teams and develop best practices across line of business.

Sajid uses his diversified range of technology engineering, marketing, sales and management experience to oversee Octaware global business operations. He has to his credit, growing the Microsoft based business quickly to INR 300 Million account working with fortune 500 companies. During his nearly 20+ year distinguished career, Sajid has worked extensively with established companies, high-growth organizations and Fortune 500 accounts around the globe, successfully building strategic sales and product divisions, and leading international expansions.

Sajid is a managed risk taker, who believes in going to the fullest and finest level of details to grow the Octaware globally. 'The greatest barrier to success is the fear of failure' and Sajid believes in this to the core. He is never afraid of failure and this is the reason that he has always been able to achieve success in whatever endeavour he has undertaken. With a strong presence and a towering personality he has always been Octaware's pillar of strength.

As he likes to put it, "To be successful, you have to have your heart in your business, and your business in your heart". Sajid is a voracious reader and likes to keep himself abreast of the latest happenings in the field of technology.

Sajid holds BS from the Mumbai University and Post-Graduation in Business Management from SMU. He is also a graduate of the Customer Management Program at Carnegie Mellon University, USA.

Yahya Malik Chief Marketing Officer

As Chief Marketing Officer, Mr. Yahya Malik is responsible for Octaware's corporate brand and integrated marketing efforts worldwide. He drives the company's corporate positioning, branding and identity, public relations, marketing campaigns and field marketing to ensure strong connections with customers and constituents.

He has an extensive experience of more than 3 decades in international business, managing sales and consulting teams across borders. Having worked across the EMEA and USA for NCR Corporation, SESSI Systems, Oracle and others, he always remains focused to open new markets, develop new business opportunities, build strong relationship with customers and partners, develop customer references each with a success story, and maintain steady growth of business.

In business he is known as a strategic leader with excellent communication and negotiation skills, who has the ability to plan, organize and execute his ideas and visions clearly. He is also looked upon as a superb mentor, an ideal role model and a rock solid sales and marketing professional managing Teams and Services across the Globe.

Apart from his professional achievements, he is actively involved in social service as the Founding member of two Non-profit organizations; a school for physically challenged children and a 50-bed hospital established in 1984 and 1996 respectively.

He is an MS in Management Information System from West Coast University.

Arif Padaria Chief Strategy Officer

Arif is Chief Strategy Officer and Global Head of Strategic Partnerships at Octaware. As Chief Strategy Officer, Arif drives the company’s strategic goals and is responsible for product strategy, business consulting roadmap and engineering alignment. Arif monitors market trends and advises the CEO and fellow Leadership Team members on strategic developments that impact our ability to fully serve our clients. As Global Head of Strategic Partnership Development, he cultivates and manages relationships with companies with complementary products and services.

As an entrepreneur, technology evangelist, corporate and business development executive and venture capitalist, Arif has helped bring many ventures through their entire development cycle – from ideation, incorporation, investment, scaling and all the way up the development curve to successful exits.

Arif's background includes 25+ years of technical experience in software engineering and management, and 15+ years building entrepreneurial ventures in the US and EMEA. He was invited by King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) Executive Leadership, as KAUST’s first Entrepreneur-in-Residence to help select high potential KAUST innovations and drive them towards commercialization; and to help build an Entrepreneurial Ecosystem at KAUST.

Prior to his venture capital investing stints with Pilot House Ventures (~$100M), Microsoft ($30M/yr) and TVM Capital (German-US $1.5B), Arif successfully built and sold a couple of startups - Princeton Softech (acquired by IBM) and ETI.

He frequently speaks at academic and commercial technology conferences about technology strategy, innovation and investing. He earned a M.S. and a B.S. in Computer Science, from Rutgers University, and an MBA from Columbia University.

Siraj Gunwan Executive Vice President

Siraj leads and manages engineering divisions at Octaware. He has extensive experience in solution design, product development and enterprise delivery across multiple verticals. He is a technology specialist with over 20 years' of experience in information technology industry working for leading financial and government organizations such as Commercial bank, GIS Centre of excellence in Qatar and Department of Science & Technology, India.

He was instrumental in expanding Octaware operations in Middle East and making inroads into various government and private sector conglomerates in the region. With his vast expertise and experience in diverse technologies, Siraj has been able to expand Octaware service offerings across multiple domains. He leads the research and innovation center at Octaware and has initiated the mobility and GIS service practices which augment Octaware overall strength in enterprise delivery.

Prior to joining Octaware, Siraj founded CodeNTest Technologies, a leading IT consulting, training and software development company in Pune. He leads and manages the Global development facilities in India using his extensive experience in solution design, product development and IT services industries.

Siraj is an avid reader and passionate on technology innovations and has delivered keynote addresses on various topics. He firmly believes that hard work is the key to success and that there is no substitute for hard work. As he likes to put it, "If the power to do hard work is not a skill, it's the best possible substitute for it." Siraj holds BS from the Karnataka University, India.

Shahnawaz Shaikh General Manager-Engineering

Shahnawaz, a highly skilled and adaptable solution architect is General Manager of Engineering at Octaware. In this capacity he is responsible for developing and implementing technical strategy and provides effective leadership in delivering IT solutions that optimize business value for organizations. A PMI - Project Management Professional (PMP), Shahnawaz is managing global development center in delivering value-driven solutions in various business domains for customers in the Enterprise, ISV, and SaaS segments.

He has been also responsible for establishing Project Management Organizations (PMOs) that have served as the center of excellence for project execution for the customers.

Shahnawaz has formerly served in roles throughout the project life cycle including consultant, project manager, Solution architect and business manager with both private and public sector in India and Middle East with a passion of delivering innovative solutions that provide faster time to market with lower risk and increased ROI. His diverse background provides him a unique perspective in assisting teams and organizations to achieve optimum results utilizing their full potential in developing a product or service.

He is passionate about helping people with their career choice leading a social initiative of Job readiness program and has delivered presentations on career preparedness, interview coaching, industry academia partnership and decision-making for engineering students in several institutes.

Shahnawaz holds BS from the Mumbai University and a member of the Project Management Institute.

Haroon Baig General Manager-Projects

Haroon has been with Octaware since its inception. He is responsible for leading cross-functional operations, including strategic alliances, account management, risk management, operational budgeting, customer care and quality. He is also responsible for instituting best practices and processes across the organization to ensure operational excellence. In addition, he has responsibility for strategic human resources activities, including workforce development and organization effectiveness, benefits and compensation, global inclusion and diversity, and HR processes and information management.

Haroon has a long history of leading new business initiatives for Octaware. Under his leadership, Octaware launched business units targeting enterprise customer communication and Microsoft SMB solution group. He also led a number of major functional organizations, including project management, technology enablement for operation and field teams, and, most recently, the Solutions and Integration Solutions Group.

A management guru and technocrat with extensive experience of 19 years in the industry, he always tries and takes initiatives to create an inspirational work environment fostering team spirit, motivation and confidence along with skillfully handling multiple operational and projects tasks simultaneously. He previously worked with a reputed institute in Mumbai where he held several leadership positions.

He holds M.S in Computer Science from Mumbai University and presently sits on the governance board of community school focused on girls' education. Go top
